![]() There are three villages in the township Lewisburg, Verona, & West Sonora, with Lewisburg being the largest. The 2000 census found 4,601 people live in the township. It is bounded on the north and east by Dark and Montgomery counties, while to the south and west lie the sister townships of Twin and Monroe. Vacancies in the fiscal officership or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.Harrison Township founded in 1815 is situated in the northeastern corner of the county and is known as township seven of range three. There is also an elected township fiscal officer, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Harrison Township was established March 6, 1832. Named in honor of General William Henry Harrison, it is one of nineteen Harrison Townships statewide. No municipalities are located in Harrison Township, although the unincorporated community of Minford lies along the border with Madison Township.
